While Most Kids

While most kids enjoy their box of toys

My inner child’s pride is a treasure trove of words

I love to admire, touch and fondle them

I play with their different finishes

Some are soft and shiny, some are dull

I prefer the ones that are translucent

The pearly ones are wonderful

Some are precious and semi-precious

Some are hurtful, others soothing

Some imprison, others liberate

Some words are dense and cold

While others as gentle as a whisper

Some reflect elation and infinity

My treasure trove of words is bottomless

I am a playful princess proudly wearing my tiara

Wealthy beyond imagination
