To My Son

    TO MY SON

My chest puffs up with lots of pride

And lots of love swells up inside

Are you wondering what that is all about

Let me tell you with a shout.

I will tell you loud and clear

Forgive me if I shed a tear

It’s about a son I nearly lost

Something that can’t be measured in cost.

When we parted I could not see

Just how unhappy I would be

I wasn’t there when he was small

I couldn’t share his life at all.

At last now his life I share

And show him how much I care

I’m so proud of what he’s done

He’s what I expected from my son.

Now he’s grown into a man

And I’ll help him when I can

To reach the goals he will attain

Now I feel like a father again

He goes ahead with head up high

His ambitions reach up to the sky

And he will reach his goal some day

How far he’ll go none can say.

He’ll always do what he does best

And then he surely will reach his quest

Writing poetry is what he does well

Just reading them makes my heart swell.

This is written for you my son

To me you are always number one

I’ve written this to show my love

And for having you I thank God above.

Please listen to me hard and well

There is one thing I must tell

When all things are said and done

I love you very much my son.

Your loving father,

Robert Taub
