Mother Please

Tell me Mother please tell me why

I was not enough

I should have been sun and moon-stars in the sky

Please Mother tell me why?

Away at work and at play

Horses shows, is there no time today?

Lego castles, I have built and worlds created

Mother won’t you play, I made a world for us

Away at work and at play

Locked in your room with MaryJane today

Mother can you sit and talk for a while?

I met someone today, I want to share my smile

She has listened to me talk, shared my hopes and dreams

But just like you I know that soon

Nothing is what it seems

I will sit alone with boxes and clothes

Empty memories and rooms

Mother please

Tell me why I’m not enough?

I work all night, no play

Home every day to sit and laugh and play

Sharing with my little ones their hopes and dreams

Fantasies

Oh Mother dear

I pity you

You missed the chance

And now it’s gone

Away

Away

To wherever you went with drugs or

Someone else, that ship has sailed

That bird has flown

Yet I know

I am enough!
